The 20 Series tow cutter is a small machine with the same high cut quality and features as its larger counterparts. Aimed at producing samples, this cutter is typically configured with one reel offering multiple cut length capabilities. However, there are dedicated-reel configurations available that will allow every possible cut length between 1.5 to 38mm.
The 40 Series tow cutter, like the 20 Series, has the same cut quality and features as larger machines in a more compact version. This machine is often used by larger fiber producers to process extended samples and help eliminate downtime on large production lines. The 40 Series is able to quickly process small runs of tow with precise cut length. Its straightforward design and features provide clients with efficient operation and low maintenance.
The 60 Series machine is a workhorse tow cutter that will cut more than 8 tons of staple fiber per hour. All standard features are included with the 60 Series, as well as options for tow height, speed control, total denier, cut lengths, cutter reel attachment, and more. This flexibility ensures that staple fiber producers can configure the cutter to their exact needs.
With the 90 Series tow cutter, 20 tons of staple fiber can be supplied every hour. The options for the 90 Series and 60 Series cutters include Reel Attachment Device (RAD), as well as tow height, total denier, cut lengths, and custom discharge configurations. The 60 and 90 series cutters are readily available with PLC systems that can be mated to upstream and downstream controls.
Our largest capacity tow cutter, the 120 Series, can supply as much as 26 tons of staple fiber each hour. 120 Series machines are typically used on large, dedicated production lines. Various options are available for this machine, allowing clients to configure it to their specifications.
When DM&E purchased Lummus Tow Cutting twenty years ago, it resulted in the acquisition of the Mk4 and Mk5 tow cutters. These machines have been upgraded with DM&E technology, including pneumatic presser wheel operation, variable frequency inverter drive, and integral brakes. The Mk4 and Mk5 can provide 7 and 10 tons of staple fiber each hour, respectively. These machines offer price-sensitive clients another option for their staple fiber cutting.
